A smoking substitute apparatus, comprising: a first compartment containing an aerosol former； a second compartment in fluid communication with the first compartment, the second compartment is configured to receive one or more capsules each containing a property modifying agent； wherein the second compartment is configured to release said property modifying agent from the capsules in the second compartment into the aerosol former in the first compartment.
