FIELD: chemistry.SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the field of macrolide chemistry, specifically to the previously unknown compound – avermectin B5-O-succinate ethyl ether of formula I, having anti-parasitic activity, as well as a method for its preparation, which comprises reacting avermectin B(III) with ethyl succinate acyl chloride in an organic solvent medium in the presence of an amine type catalyst. Organic solvent is preferably methylene chloride or chloroform. Amine type catalyst used is, for example, 2,6-lutidine or triethylamine.
