The present invention is directed to a method for preventing and/or treating infection of plant or animal host species by fungal, bacterial and/or viral pathogens, wherein said method comprises the steps of providing a mixture of one or more non-pathogenic bacteria and one or more activating agents； and administering said mixture to said host species.
