PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a medical image diagnostic apparatus which can detect a lesioned part of three-dimensional image data while reducing an exposure dose of a subject.SOLUTION: A medical image diagnostic apparatus which generates three-dimensional image data including a plurality of tomographic images of a subject by irradiating the subject with a radiation and detecting the radiation penetrating the subject comprises an image generation part, a setting part, an image detection part and a display control part. The image generation part generates a two-dimensional image by projecting three-dimensional image data in a prescribed direction. The setting part sets an area of interest with respect to the two-dimensional image. The image detection part detects a tomographic image including a corresponding area whose pixel value is similar to that of the area of interest from the three-dimensional image data on the basis of the area of interest and the corresponding area for each tomographic image corresponding to the area of interest.
