Mixing devices (100) used with a syringe or syringe system (150) and related systemsfor homogenously mixing two part compositions, as well as single part compositionswhich include components that may tend to separate over time (e.g., a fluoridevarnish composition). The devices (100) and systems (150) include a hollow elongatehandle (104) having a proximal end (106), a distal delivery end (108), and a deliverypassageway therethrough. A mixing member (110) is disposed at or near the proximalend (106) of the hollow elongate handle (104), which mixing member and a portionof the handle are axially slidable within a syringe barrel (120) during use. Theuser may push and pull the distal end (108) of the handle (104), causing correspondingaxial movement of the mixing member (110) within the syringe barrel (120).
