The invention relates to a rolling bearing (1) for a medical or dental, compressed-gas-operated handpiece (2), comprising: an outer race (3), an inner race (4), at least one rolling element (5) which is situated between the outer race (3) and the inner race (4), and an elastic braking device (6) which is provided on the rolling bearing (1) and acts in a contact-making manner on the rolling bearing (1) and/or on a component (7, 8), in particular rotary part, connected to the rolling bearing (1) in order to brake a rotary movement of the rolling bearing (1) and/or of the component (7, 8) connected to the rolling bearing (1). The braking device (6), in particular at least one braking face of the braking device (6), can be actuated by compressed gas such that the braking action effected by the contact between the braking device (6) and the rolling bearing (1) and/or the component (7, 8) connected to the rolling bearing (1) is variable. The invention also relates to a medical or dental, compressed-gas-operated handpiece (2) which has a rotary part which can be set in rotation by compressed gas and at least one corresponding rolling bearing (1) for rotatably mounting the rotary part.
