A drug delivery device to deliver therapeutic diagnostic agent that can be distally administered to a local tissue or organ through the lumen of a biological vessel, tube or tubule to treat the local area adjacent to the delivery site comprising a drug delivery apparatus(l), a balloon (2) and a catheter (3) wherein the drug delivery apparatus is externally wrapped around the balloon (2) and is disposed for getting deflated upon deflation of the balloon (2) for taking up the shape of the balloon and remaining so for intended period of time. The balloon (2) is positioned intraluminally for receiving an inflation fluid inserted through the lumen of the inner wire of the catheter (3) for inflating the balloon (2) to a coaxial inflation and detachment of the drug delivery apparatus (1) when the detached apparatus takes the shape of the lumen of the biological tube, tubular or vessel.
