A loader wagon having a load carrying box for receiving harvested halm material and a loading system for gathering halm material and transporting gathered halm material into the load carrying box. The load carrying box has a pivotable front wall. The loading system has a pick-up conveyor for picking-up halm material from a field and a feeding rotor for feeding halm material from the pick-up conveyor into the load carrying box near a bottom end of the front wall. At least the pivotable front wall or a rotor cleaner is pivotable about a pivot axis at a level below a topmost part of a rotary contour of the feeding rotor. A method of loading such a loader wagon is also described.
