A first side of the pad is configured to be attached to a skin of a user the pad is provided with coded information the injection device is configured to read the coded information from the pad when the injection device is brought into proximity of or contact with the pad the injection device is configured to determine whether the coded information on the pad meets a predetermined criterion and the injection device is configured to respond to a positive determination by autoinjecting medicament through the pad into the user, permitting medicament administration, or indicating to the user that medicament administration is appropriate.
