602593 Disclosed is a computer-implemented method to assist a dispatcher (104) when communicating with a caller (118) via telephone (116) regarding a medical emergency of a patient (117). A dispatch centre computer system (106) provides an emergency dispatch protocol (108) to assist the dispatcher (104). The protocol (108) presents a plurality of pre-scripted interrogatories for the dispatcher (104) to ask the caller (118) to gather information regarding the emergency and generate an emergency dispatch response by emergency responders. The dispatch centre computer system (106) initiates a diagnostic tool (120) on the dispatch centre computer (102). The diagnostic tool (120) is configured to assist the dispatcher (104) in determining a burn surface area on the patient (117). The diagnostic tool (120) presents to the dispatcher (104), a user interface that has a portrayal of a human body divided into a plurality of sections. This enables a dispatcher (104) to quickly sum a surface area of each of the sections that correspond to burned areas of the patient's body to determine the bum surface area of the patient (117).
