The present invention relates to a pharmaceutical composition for treating or preventing neural diseases due to exposure to alcohol during pregnancy, the pharmaceutical composition comprising metformin (Met) or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof, and a health food for treating or preventing neural diseases due to exposure to alcohol during pregnancy, the health food comprising metformin (Met) or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof. Further, a composition further comprising thymoquinone or a pharmaceutically acceptable sale thereof in addition to the pharmaceutical composition and a health food further comprising thymoquinone or a pharmaceutically acceptable sale thereof in addition to the health food are included in the constitution of the present invention. The compositions and health foods of the present invention exhibit a neuroprotection effect in the fetus expected to have neural diseases due to maternal alcohol intake, thereby preventing or treating neural diseases due to exposure of the fetus to alcohol.
