PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable a doctor to quickly determine whether or not a candidate region for abnormality included in an image representing the inside of a subject is an anatomical abnormality such as a tuber.
SOLUTION: An extended tuber candidate region 12 specifies a peripheral region continuous with a tuber candidate region included in the image representing the inside of the subject. A display image generating part 15 generates a display image in such a mode that the candidate region for abnormality and the peripheral region are discriminable from each other.
