Provided is an object information acquiring apparatus including a light source, a photoacoustic probe that receives a photoacoustic wave generated at an object irradiated with light, an ultrasound probe that receives an ultrasound wave transmitted to the object and then reflected within the object, and a signal processor that creates a functional image showing functional information within the object on the basis of the photoacoustic wave and creates a morphological image showing morphological information within the object on the basis of the ultrasound wave, the signal processor being configured to divide the functional image into a plurality of regions, perform different image processing for each of the regions, superimpose the processed functional image on the morphological image, and display the resulting image in a display.
