A floating insect trap comprises a dome formed from an open bottomed container 3 surrounded by floatation means 2. The apex of the dome is provided with a funnel 1. A bait tray 4 containing bait 5 is attached to the mouth of the funnel. Insects 8 trapped in the dome provide food for fish swimming beneath. The funnel can be disposed vertically or horizontally (fig 4) on the dome. The dome may be a variety of different shapes and may be coloured or patterned. Various attractants such as semiochemicals, pheromones, carbon dioxide and fresh or decaying food matter may be used. A light and heat source may also be provided
