The invention relates to a method for calculating an activity index of an individual in a sleep phase, which is implemented via an index calculating device. According to the invention, such a method includes: - a step (10) of obtaining from an initial audio/video stream (FlvO) at least two streams (x1, x2, x3), each including a plurality of time stamped samples； - a step (20) of formatting said at least two streams (x1, x2, x3), outputting at least two formatted streams (x1f, x2f, x3f)； a step (30) of combining said at least two formatted streams, outputting a combined stream (xc)； - a step (40) of calculating, from said combined stream (xc), at least one index representative of an activity level of an individual (IrNA).L' invention se rapporte à un procédé de calcul d'un indice d'activité d' un individu lors d'une phase de sommeil, mis en œuvre par l'intermédiaire d'un dispositif de calcul d'indice. Selon l'invention, un tel procédé comprend : - une étape d'obtention (10), à partir d'un flux audio /vidéo d'origine (FlvO), d'au moins deux flux (x1, x2, x3), chacun comprenant une pluralité d'échantillons horodatés； - une étape de formatage (20) desdits au moins deux flux (x1, x2, x3), délivrant au moins deux flux formatés (x1f, x2f, x3f)； une étape de combinaison (30), desdits au moins deux flux formatés, délivrant un flux combiné (xc)； - une étape de calcul (40), à partir dudit flux combiné (xc) d'au moins un indice représentatif d'un niveau d'activité d'un individu (IrNA).
