PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a conjunctival epithelial cell line that is useful for physiological and biochemical researches of conjunctiva and as a research means for developing a prophylactic and a therapeutic agent of eye diseases such as conjunctivitis etc., and is transplantable into a living body for conjunctival regeneration.

SOLUTION: The conjunctival epithelial cell line expresses an exogenous immortalizing gene. The method for producing the same is provided. Since the conjunctival epithelial cell line provides a sufficient number of cells and has a prescribed continuous proliferation potency, it is advantageously useful for elucidating cause of eye diseases such as conjunctivitis etc., and for developing a prophylactic and/or a therapeutic agent of the eye diseases, further not only extremely useful for biochemical or physiological researches of conjunctiva, cell differentiation mechanism research but also has possibility of use as a living body material of artificial conjunctiva.
