Specifically, the invention relates to a screening tool (2, 102) comprising: a compression body (20, 120) capable of engaging with a portion (10a) of a limb (10) of the patient to be compressed a compression means (30, 130) capable of compressing said contact surface (24, 124) against said portion (10a) of the limb (10) of the patient to be compressed a measurement means (40, 140) capable of structurally and functionally engaging with a portion (10b) of the limb (10) of the patient to be examined, as well as generating, by means of the optical detection of one or more component(s) of the blood, a measurement signal that is characteristic of an arterial pulse in the portion (10b) of the limb (10) of the patient to be examined during a measurement phase. The invention is essentially characterized in that the compression means (30, 130) is capable of generating, on said portion (10a) to be compressed, a measurement pressure substantially equal to a threshold pressure value during the entire measurement phase, and in that the screening tool (2, 102) also comprises: a calculation means (60, 160) capable of transmitting, from the measurement signal, a negative diagnostic signal when the arterial pulse in the portion to be examined is greater than a threshold diagnostic value, and of transmitting a positive diagnostic signal when said arterial pulse is lower than said threshold diagnostic value and an expression means (70, 170) capable of expressing negative diagnostic information upon receipt of the negative diagnostic signal from the calculation means (60, 160).Linvention concerne le domaine du dépistage de lartériopathie oblitérante.
