The invention relates to a dental implant system which comprises a dental implant and a drill, the dental implant comprising a body having a coronal end and an apical end； a coronal-apical axis extending between the coronal end and the apical end defined by the body； and an outer periphery extending around the coronal-apical axis, the outer periphery having a non-circular outer shape in cross-section that has a maximum width dimension； and the drill comprising a drill bit shaped to form a circular bore in bone, the drill bit having a diameter, wherein the maximum width dimension of the outer periphery of the dental implant is greater than the diameter of the drill bit, such that the dental implant is configured for press-fitting into the circular bore in the bone and the outer periphery of the dental implant is configured to engage the circular bore to resist a torsional force applied to the implant around the coronal-apical axis while the dental implant is disposed within the circular bore.
