PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To specify a retina layer boundary without a mistake even in an area existing in the back of an abnormal site based on a fundus surface, when the abnormal site causes which shows the change of a laminar structure due to a disease and a structure different from a normal structure in a tomographic image.SOLUTION: An image processor includes: a forward detection part for detecting a layer boundary candidate of a retina layer of a subjects eye by analyzing the tomographic image along a forward direction toward the depth side of the fundus from the fundus surface of the tomographic image of the subjects eye an abnormal site detection part for analyzing the tomographic image to detect the position of the abnormal site in the retina layer a backward detection part for detecting a layer boundary candidate of the retina layer of the subjects eye by analyzing the tomographic image along a backward direction toward the fundus surface from the depth side of the fundus of the tomographic image when the abnormal site is detected and a layer boundary specifying part for specifying the layer boundary from the fundus surface to the abnormal site using the layer boundary candidate detected by the forward detection part, and specifying the layer boundary from the depth side of the fundus to the abnormal site using the layer boundary candidate detected by the backward detection part.COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT【課題】断層画像において、疾病による層構造の変化や正常構造とは異なる構造を示す異常部位が生じた場合に、眼底表面を基準に異常部位の奥に存在する領域に対しても、間違えることなく網膜層境界を特定する。【解決手段】 画像処理装置は、被検眼の断層画像の眼底表面から眼底の奥側に向かう順方向に沿って、断層画像を解析することにより被検眼の網膜層の層境界候補を検出する順方向検出部と、断層画像を解析して網膜層の異常部位の位置を検出する異常部位検出部と、異常部位が検出された場合に、断層画像の眼底の奥側から眼底表面に向かう逆方向に沿って、断層画像を解析することにより被検眼の網膜層の層境界候補を検出する逆方向検出部と、眼底表面から異常部位までの層境界を、順方向検出部で検出された層境界候補を用いて特定し、眼底の奥側から異常部位までの層境界を、逆方向検出部で検出された層境界候補を用いて特定する層境界特定部と、を備える。【選択図】 図2
