The output shaft (126) is selectively rotated by the motor (114). The toothbrush (100) further includes a bumper assembly (148) connected to the output shaft (126) and configured to conserve kinetic energy from the output shaft (126) during rotation and reapply the kinetic energy to the output shaft (126).
