The present invention relates to a dryer and a control method thereof. According to one embodiment of the present invention, the dryer comprises: a front case including a first opening portion which is surrounded by an air guide protruding forward and a plurality of exhaust holes which are formed around the first opening portion； a back side case which is coupled to the front case and which includes a second opening portion surrounded by a backwardly protruding housing guide, wherein the second opening portion is overlapped with the first opening portion； a fan housing which is coupled to the first and second opening portions and is capable of moving forward and backward along the air guide and the housing guide and which includes a blowing fan therein； and a heater which is formed on the fan housing for heating and discharging wind generated from the blowing fan. In addition, the direction of wind discharged from the heater is changed according to the forward and backward movement of the fan housing.본 발명은 건조기 및 건조기의 제어 방법에 관한 것이다. 본 발명의 일 실시예에 따른 건조기는, 전방으로 돌출된 에어 가이드로 둘러싸인 제1 개구부와 상기 제1 개구부 주변에 형성된 복수의 배기공을 포함하는 전면 케이스； 상기 전면 케이스와 결합되고, 후방으로 돌출된 하우징 가이드로 둘러싸인 제2 개구부를 포함하되, 상기 제2 개구부는 상기 제1 개구부와 오버랩되는 후면 케이스； 상기 제1 및 제2 개구부에 결합되어 상기 에어 가이드 및 상기 하우징 가이드를 따라 전후방으로 이동 가능하고, 내부에 송풍팬을 포함하는 팬 하우징； 및 상기 팬 하우징 상에 형성되고, 상기 송풍팬에서 생성된 바람을 가열하여 토출하는 가열기를 포함하고, 상기 가열기에서 토출된 바람의 방향은 상기 팬 하우징의 전후방 이동에 따라 변경된다
