An apparatus for computed tomography imaging of a patient has a rotatable mount that is actuable to rotate about a rotation axis and that supports, at opposite ends an x-ray source and an x-ray detector, wherein the x-ray source is disposed to direct a radiation beam through the patient and toward the detector. A patient positioning apparatus positions the patient relative to the rotation axis. A control logic processor controls rotation of the rotatable mount and acquires image data for the patient at each of a number of angular positions about the rotation axis. A collimator is disposed in front of the x-ray source and controlled by the control logic processor to center the radiation beam, at each of the plurality of angular positions, on a region of interest that is spaced apart from the rotation axis.La présente invention porte sur un appareil pour imagerie de tomographie par ordinateur (CT) d'un patient, qui a un montage apte à tourner qui est apte à être actionné pour tourner autour d'un axe de rotation et qui porte, au niveau d'extrémités opposées une source de rayons X et un détecteur de rayons X, la source de rayons X étant disposée pour diriger un faisceau de rayonnement à travers le patient et vers le détecteur. Un appareil de positionnement de patient positionne le patient par rapport à l'axe de rotation. Un processeur logique de commande commande une rotation du montage apte à tourner et acquiert des données d'image pour le patient au niveau de chacune de nombreuses positions angulaires autour de l'axe de rotation. Un collimateur est disposé devant la source de rayons X et commandé par le processeur logique de commande pour centrer le faisceau de rayonnement, au niveau de chacune de la pluralité de positions angulaires, sur une région d'intérêt qui est espacée de l'axe de rotation.
