PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electronic endoscope system and a light source device for endoscope that can improve brightness and contrast of an image while preventing missing of information in observation of a specific biological structure by narrowband light.SOLUTION: An electronic endoscope system is composed of: a light source for emitting light including a visible light region； an optical filter that has transmission peaks in at least two specific wavelengths in a continuous wavelength region including the visible light region, has transmittance that is higher than 0 and lower than a half value of the transmission peaks between the transmission peaks of the at least two specific wavelengths, and has transmittance of 0 in other wavelength regions than between the transmission peaks of the two specific wavelengths； a color solid-state imaging element for receiving light reflected from a subject irradiated with irradiation light via the optical filter； and image generation means for generating a color image that can be displayed on a monitor by processing an imaging signal outputted from the solid-state imaging element.【課題】狭帯域光による特定の生体構造の観察を行う場合に、情報の欠落を防ぐとともに、画像の明るさおよびコントラストを向上させることが可能な電子内視鏡システムおよび内視鏡用光源装置を提供すること。【解決手段】電子内視鏡システムを、可視光領域を含む光を放射する光源と、可視光領域を含む連続的な波長域中の少なくとも２つの特定波長に透過ピークを有し、該少なくとも２つの特定波長の透過ピーク間において０よりも高くかつ該透過ピークの半値よりも低い透過率を有し、少なくとも２つの特定波長の透過ピーク間以外の波長域の透過率が０である、光学フィルタと、光学フィルタを介した照射光によって照射された被写体からの反射光を受光するカラーの固体撮像素子と、固体撮像素子が出力する撮像信号を処理してモニタ表示可能なカラー画像を生成する画像生成手段と、から構成した。【選択図】図３
