An oral care composition comprising a carrier acceptable for oral administration, metal oxide particles with an average particle size not larger than the size of the dentinal tubule, and a polymer adhesive material for adhering metal oxide particles in the dentin tubule, in which the metal oxide contains, at least one metal oxide selected from zinc oxide, tin oxide, calcium oxide, copper oxide and iron oxide or a mixture thereof, and in which the metal oxide is encapsulated in a polymer adhesive material. 2. An oral care composition according to claim 1, wherein the metal oxide particles have an average particle size of 5 μm or less. An oral care composition according to claim 1, wherein the metal oxide is zinc oxide. The oral composition according to claim 1, wherein the metal oxide particles have a particle size distribution of 3 to 4 μm, a particle size distribution of 5 to 7 μm, a particle size distribution of 3 to 5 μm, a particle size distribution of 2 to 5 μm, or a particle size distribution composition from 2 to 4 microns. 5. The oral composition according to claim 1, wherein the metal oxide particles are present in an amount of not more than 5% by weight based on the total weight of the oral composition.
