FIELD: wood working industry.SUBSTANCE: directed felling method with the use of a tree felling machine fitted with a cabin with onboard computer with the special software, loading platform with bolster, gripping and cutting device installed on the manipulator, comprising a column, boom and handle, the method also comprises the travel of the tree felling machine to the felling place, its stopping, targeting of the manipulator with installed on its handle the gripping and cutting device to a tree, gripping and cutting the tree trunk, tree felling with its top onto the skid in opposite to the machine moving direction, stacking of a tree with the butt onto the bolster of the tree felling machine. Just before the tree gripping using the sensor system and onboard computer the tree coordinates with reference to the centre of the manipulator column and longitudinal geometrical axis of the back section of the tree felling machine, diameter of a tree trunk at a base, angle of rotation of tree pack axis with reference to the longitudinal geometrical axis of the back section of the tree felling machine are determined. Then using the data obtained from the software program of the onboard computer, the tree height, required angle of rotation of the gripping and cutting device necessary for tree felling, so that its top has appeared on the skid, are determined, and then the gripping and cutting device is rotated to the necessary angle and then the tree is gripped by the gripping and cutting device rotated to the necessary angle.EFFECT: method ensures an accuracy of directed felling, simplification and shortening of time of collecting of tumbled down trees into a pack in the bolster located on the platform of the tree felling machine, increase of productivity of the logging process.2 dwgИзобретение относится к лесной промышленности и может быть использовано при массовой заготовке древесины.
