An anti-interleukin (IL)-17A antibody that comprises a light chain variable region with the CDR sequences CDRL1, CDRL2, CDRL3 of SEQ ID NOs: 11, 12 and 13 and a heavy chain variable region with the CDR sequences CDRH1, CDRH2, CDRH3 of SEQ ID NOs: 14, 17 and 20 or SEQ ID NOs: 14, 16 and 19. The Il-17A antibody can neutralise the activity of IL-17A and is useful in the preparation of a medicament for treating an inflammatory or autoimmune disorder. The disorder can be rheumatoid arthritis or inflammatory bowel disease. The IL-17A antibody can be encoded by an expression vector which has ATCC Accession No. PTA-7675.
