Insect attraction and trapping efficiency is increased in an insect trap that uses an opaque cylinder, and fluctuation in and interruption of the rotation of the opaque cylinder, which causes a decreased or hindered trapping function, are resolved. The trap is provided with an opaque cylinder that rotates around a shaft, blades that stand upright from the outer circumferential surface of said opaque cylinder, flanges at both ends of the opaque cylinder, and a curved surface, which is equipped with an insect killing or immobilizing means and is disposed at the outer margin of said opaque cylinder a specified distance from the rotational path of the leading edges of the blades. The outer circumferential surface of the opaque cylinder, the blades, the flanges, and the curved surface are configured to form a closed insect trap space when the opaque cylinder is rotated. A light source is provided inside the opaque cylinder and the opaque cylinder is configured to include at least one transparent area for light to attract insects.
