Microcapsules encapsulating acidic materials particularly liquid or solidorganic acids, either neat or dispersed in anoil phase, are described. The microcapsules comprise condensation products ofalkylated methylol melamine resins in the presenceof an acrylic acid-alkyl acrylate co-polymer. An aqueous emulsion is formedwith a dispersed organic acid. pH control under acidicconditions along with additions of sulfate salt promotes controlledencapsulation over an extended time period with successive heatingto effect condensation and cure.
