The system and method utilizes the timing of a response to a stimuli for one or more pupils of an individual, characterizes the one or more timed responses, determines the latency of the one or more timed responses, measures the minimum constriction value for the one or more timed responses and assesses the one or more timed responses collected to detect changes in neurotransmission and neuroactivity of an individual to assess the presence of a traumatic brain injury.
