The widespread use of tetracyclines for therapeutic purposes has led to the emergence of resistance to these antibiotics. Therefore, there is need for new tetracycline analogs with improved antibacterial activities and efficacies against tetracycline responsive diseases or disorders. The present invention relates to the depicted tetracycline compound ((4S,4aS,5aR,12aS)-8-[1-ethyl-pyrrolidin-2-yl]-4-amino-7-methoxy-3, 10, 12,12a-tetrahydroxy-1,11-dioxo-4a,5,5a,6-tetrahydro-4H-tetracene-2-carboxamide as a tetracycline antibiotic compound for bacterial infections) as an antibacterial agent.
