PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an iron powder suitably used as the iron powder constituting a heat generator which reaches desired temperature in short time.SOLUTION: Content of a metal iron is set at 85 mass% or less, metal iron/all iron (mass%) is set at 0.85 or less and average particle diameter (D50) measured by a laser diffraction type particle size distribution device is set at 30 μm to 200 μm. A value of particle size distribution measured by a laser diffraction type particle size distribution device [(D90-D10)/D50] is preferably 2.0 or more.
