The present disclosure provides methods and compositions for treating liver symptoms of glycemic accumulation diseases through the administration of thyroid hormone receptor agonists. The methods and compositions provided herein are useful for the treatment of hyperlipidemia, hypercholesterolemia, hepatic steatosis, cardiac hypertrophy, hepatomegaly, liver fibrosis, and cirrhosis associated with glycemic accumulation disease (GSD) and deficiencies in glycogen metabolism.
