A life alert system which continually monitors a subjects heart rate via a wearable device such as a smart watch and automatically alerts call center personnel to engage emergency responders in the event of a cardiac incident, and provide the location of the subject. In response to measured physiological parameters, besides alerting the call center the watch attempts to communicate with the subject. After an emergency responder has been dispatched, the watch also displays medical information about the subject, providing an electronic “medic alert” bracelet function.
