A device for controlling flood and drain conditions in hydroponic growing equipment for plants comprises a controller and floatless sensor means for detecting fluid level, wherein the controller is configured for sequential activation of a filling means in a first step and draining means in a second step, and wherein the filling means is deactivated upon activation of the draining means. The device may further comprise a timer and a relay to configure to activate the filling means upon a first signal, to deactivate the filling means and activation of the draining means on a second signal.
