PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an endoscopic apparatus capable of easily generating a video file for accurately mapping the path of a subject.SOLUTION: The endoscopic apparatus 1 includes: an insertion section 2 having a leading end 2a equipped with an imaging element 14 for imaging the subject a gravity sensor 13 detecting information for detecting the rotation angle of the insertion section 2 with respect to an insertion axis an insertion length measuring section 4 measuring the length of the insertion of the insertion section 2 into the subject and a change-of-path direction instruction section 17 providing instructions on the input of the insertion direction of the insertion section 2 when the path of the subject is changed. A control section 25 generates an AVI file 30, in which information for detecting the rotation angle of the insertion section 2, information on the insertion length of the insertion section 2, and information on the insertion direction of the insertion section 2 are associated with one another, for each frame of an endoscopic image of the subject, and records the AVI file in an image recording section 28.
