A method of identifying a cancer patient who is (a) susceptible to, or (b) less susceptible to, responding to treatment with a c-met antagonist, which comprises the step of determining whether the patient's cancer has (a ) a high amount or (b) a low amount of c-met biomarker, where the expression of the c-met biomarker indicates that the patient is (a) susceptible to respond to treatment with the c-met antagonist or (b) less susceptible to respond to treatment with the c-met antagonist, in which the expression of the c-met biomarker protein is determined in a cancer sample obtained from the patient using immunohistochemistry (IHQ) and (a) a high expression of c-met biomarker is (i) 50% or more of the tumor cells with a moderate staining intensity of c-met or a moderate / strong staining intensity combined with c-met but less than 50% of the tumor cells with a strong staining intensity (IHQ score of 2), or (i i) 50% or more of the tumor cells with a strong staining intensity of c-met (IHQ score of 3) and (b) a low expression of biomarker c-met is (i) a negative staining of c-met , less than 50% of the tumor cells with a low or moderate and moderate combined staining intensity of c-met (IHQ score of 0) or (ii) 50% or more of the tumor cells with a low staining intensity or combined low and moderate cmet but less than 50% of tumor cells with a moderate or moderate and strong combined staining intensity of c-met (IHQ score of 1), in which the staining intensity of c- expression met is determined with respect to the cmet staining intensity of control cell granules, and, in which a control for the moderate staining intensity of c-met has the c-met staining intensity of the A549 cell line ； a control for the intensity of strong staining of c-met has the intensity of c-met staining of the H441 cell line； a control for the intensity of c-met negative staining has the intensity of cmet staining of the H1155 cell line； and a control for the low staining intensity of c-met has
