The present invention relates to a lobe extraction method and an apparatus thereof. An image processing apparatus divides lung regions in a three-dimensional body image by using a region growth method, extracts fissure candidate groups between lobes based on the orientation of the changes in the intensity of the signals from the voxels in the lung regions, and reconstructs the image of the lung regions including the fissure candidate groups into a frontal profile image of the body.
