Disclosed is a coated rice seed having a coating layer on the surface of a rice seed wherein: the coating layer includes an iron oxide and at least one type of copolymer selected from the group consisting of styrene butadiene copolymers and methyl methacrylate butadiene styrene copolymers and the content of said iron oxide is 30 90 wt% to 100 wt% of said coated rice seeds. Thus it is possible to provide coated seeds that are less susceptible to bird damage and that do not have the problem of reduced germination rate as in conventional iron coatings.
