<;P>;PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a new application of antibacterial peptide(s), particularly an apoptosis-inhibitory application of the same, and to provide a pharmaceutical or the like utilizing the antibacterial peptide(s). <;P>;SOLUTION: An apoptosis inhibitor is provided, comprising antibacterial peptide(s) as active ingredient. The pharmaceutical comprises this apoptosis inhibitor. In this inhibitor, the antibacterial peptide(s) is(are) preferably peptide(s) derived from humans, being preferably one or more peptides selected from the group consisting of CAP18 and partial peptides thereof and defensins, wherein the defensin is preferably &beta;-defensin, and the above peptide(s) is(are) preferably one or more peptides selected from the group consisting of &beta;-defensin-1, &beta;-defensin-2, &beta;-defensin-3 and &beta;-defensin-4.
