A seat (1) for a vehicle is disclosed. The seat has an anchoring mechanism for releasably anchoring the seat to an anchoring element disposed on the interior floor of the vehicle. The seat has wheels (6) to enable it to be rolled within the vehicle when not anchored to the interior of the vehicle. This allows the seat to be temporarily wheeled outside the vehicle for the purpose of seating a person in the seat, before moving the seat, with the seated person, back into the vehicle and positioning the seat over the anchoring element. The wheels are retractable from a lowered position to a raised position, causing the seat to lower so that the anchoring mechanism may anchor to the anchoring element. A method of transporting a person in a vehicle and a seat for a bus are also disclosed.
