An anal incontinence treatment apparatus for treatment of a patient suffering from anal incontinence is disclosed. The apparatus comprises an adjustable restriction device that is implantable in the patient for engaging a portion of the colon or rectum of the patient to restrict a faecal passageway therein, and an operable adjustment device that is implantable in the patient for adjusting the restriction device to change the restriction of the faecal passageway, wherein the adjustment device is adapted to mechanically adjust the restriction device.
