Needle device comprising cannula having proximal and distal ends; hubsupporting portion ofthe cannula; wing assembly having pair of wings extending from hub, movablebetween laterallyextending position and dorsal position; with wings in dorsal position gap isformed between huband wings; a tip guard axially movable relative to the cannula from a firstposition adjacent thehub to a second position with tip guard shielding the distal end; a drivemember extendablebetween a biased position and an extended position for moving the tip guardfrom the first to thesecond position, drive member having a proximal end engaged with hub anddistal end engagedwith tip guard. With the pair of wings in the dorsal position and the drivemember in the biasedposition, a portion of the drive member is retained within the gap between thehub and the pair ofwings.
