594184 Disclosed is the use of an isolated or purified ingenol compound or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof in the manufacture of a medicament for the treatment of chronologically-aged and/or photo-aged skin or for inducing endogenous synthesis of hyaluronan in a subject, wherein said medicament is for topical administration to lines, wrinkles, furrows or sunspots on said skin. Examples of the ingenol compound are: ingenol-3-angelate, 20-O-acetyl-ingenol-3-angelate and 20-deoxyingenol-3-angelate. Also disclosed is the cosmetic method of chronologically-aged and/or photo-aged skin in a subject comprising topically administering a composition comprising an isolated or purified ingenol compound or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof to lines, wrinkles, furrows or sunspots on the skin of said subject.
