A humidifying chamber (5200) for a humidifier comprises a chamber top or upper part (5210) and tub base or lower part (5220). Chamber top (5210) and tub base (5220) are clamped and held together by clip (5250) to form an assembled chamber adapted to hold a supply of liquid. The liquid level in in the assembled chamber may be above the clamping perimeter between the top and the base which are sealingly connected. The clip 5250 is in the form of a partial ring with a channel cross section that when moved around the periphery of the joint between the base and the top interacts with the protrusions from the base 5226 and the top 5216 to clamp the parts together. The base and top protrusion surfaces 5215 that are clamped by the partial ring connector are further apart in the axial direction of the chamber as the clamping partial ring moves around the periphery so that a greater clamping force is applied as the partial ring is moved further around the periphery.
