Apparatus for producing post-larvae of the Giant Freshwater Prawn comprising: a) one or more cylindo-conical larval rearing tanks b) air diffuser ring for creating up flow/down flow water circulation within said tanks c) standpipe/s to hold water level d) standpipe filter/s (30) to allow uneaten Artemia naupili and other wastes to pass for filtration but not Giant Freshwater Prawn larvae e) pressurized spray ring to inhibit larvae from sticking to the standpipe filter (30) and around the tank wall surface above the waterline f) filtration means for removal of particulate wastes and biological conversion of toxic ammonia to less toxic nitrite, and the less toxic nitrite to non-toxic nitrate, in system water g) means for returning said system water to larval tanks h) heating and chilling means for said system water with said system water maintained at a constant 30 degrees Celsius +/- 0.3 degrees Celsius, and i) means of sterilization of system water.
