The present invention relates to sustained release polymeric microspheres containing anastrozole, and more specifically, to a method for preparing polymeric microspheres by dissolving polymers and anastrozole in a solvent, and aggregating the reactant into particles, comprising the steps of: treating aggregated polymeric particles with an aqueous alcohol solution and preparing a sustained release polymeric microspheres containing anastrozole, wherein the ratio of the maximum serum concentration (Cmax) with respect to the average serum concentration (Cave) of anastrozole during release period is 1-20. The present invention also relates to polymeric microspheres prepared thereby and a pharmaceutical composition containing the same.
