An insert(420) for a tool fixes a bone fixing device which includes a receiving part. The insert is inserted into a longitudinal groove of a holder(402) of the tool. The insert is accepted in the bone fixing element. The insert comprises two or more grooves for accepting bone fixing elements of different size.
