The present invention pertains to a drug administration mechanism provided with a body and a pump unit (3) attached to the body, the pump unit (3) being provided with a pump (31) for suctioning a drug from a drug container and discharging the drug into a patient by repeatedly increasing and reducing the capacity of a feeder portion, a suction-side tube (333) that extends from the pump (31) toward the drug container, a discharge-side tube (334) that extends from the pump (31) toward the patient, a relief tube (35, 35a) of which one end (351) is connected to the discharge-side tube (333) and the other end (352) is positioned in the portion that is at lower pressure than the pressure inside the discharge-side tube during administering of the drug, and a relief tube open/close valve (36, 36a) for opening and closing the relief tube (35, 35a).
