PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an IP reader capable of immediately confirming an X-ray image on the spot after X-ray photographing, and to provide an X-ray diagnostic apparatus.SOLUTION: In an IP reader 1, an IP reading part 11 reads X-ray information about a subject from an IP. A housing part 12 houses the IP reading part 11. An IP support mechanism 13 supports the IP in a movable manner. An Ip drive part 14 drives the IP support mechanism 13 so that the IP can be put in and out of the housing part 12. An image generation part 15 generates data of an X-ray image about the subject on the basis of an output from the IP reading part 11.
