A tip for phacoemulsification, comprising: a rod having a proximal end and a distal end; a cutting edge portion at a distal end of the rod, the cutting edge portion comprising at least first and second bends; wherein the geometry of the rod and at least first and second bends configured to laterally displace perpendicular to the rod during ultrasonic torsional vibrations of the tip, which is less than about 5-25% of the transverse displacement at the distal end point onegnik, over the portion of the shaft, which extends from the proximal end of the shaft to the first bend of the cutting edge. The phacoemulsification tip according to claim 1, wherein the transverse displacement (u) is at least partially specified using an equation in which ϕ denotes the angle of rotation of the tip, ρ denotes the density of the material of the tip, S (z) denotes the cross-sectional area of the tip along the collinear axis with a rod, E denotes the Young's modulus of the tip material, I (z) denotes the moment of inertia of the tip section around an axis perpendicular to the axis collinear with the rod, l (z) denotes the lateral displacement along the axis perpendicular to the axis, coll inernar with a rod. 3. The phacoemulsification tip according to claim 2, wherein ϕ is provided by the equation, where I (z) denotes the moment of inertia of the cross section of the cylindrical tip around the axis collinear with the tip, and μ denotes the elastic modulus of torsion of the tip material. 4.
